Choosing Sides?

I've gotten the impression that there will be some factions almost right off the bat with Cyrene. I was wondering before the release will we get some more storyline and ideas as to which faction to be picking? Can we switch or once we pick are we set? do we have to pick?

I like the ideas but i'd like to make an informed decision too.
