Shops and Booths?

Few Scars

Member
Hi Dev team

I have many questions today :)
Will Shops and Booths be available on auction within the first few months of Cyrenes release? Also have shopping areas been allocated?

Cheers
Bjorn

Hello Bjorn and whoeier,

There will be nothing for the soft launch.
I can tell you that yes, the areas have already been allocated in the City of Janus.

Will they be open so we can look inside? :)

Yes, while exploring city of Janus I found some buildings that have a building layout that would favor shops. These are located at the back of the city close to the sea. You can enter the buildings...you will find a passage which gives entrances to small rooms.

Shops have always been a big part of EU so can't wait for it, but on the idea of some sort of free shop system. Think a more progressive approach would be some sort of public shop zone for players who arrive first can place items for sale and as they get bought up other players could replace the items with their own and visversa. And seeing there is already a daily quest system on Cyrene allow 1 item per person per day or week and limit the time allotted to a few hours then it gets sent back to inventory. It could allow people to stabilize an early economy instead of just pumping in PED and buying up every piece of estate and deed possible.

Sadly, that's probably why I wont end up with one for probably quite a while after release. :(

I'd be happy with even like.. 10 slot booth/table/something.
yeah, normal players dont need 999items store. to make trade alive better to make more smaller booths, than few large shops. another thing that i didnt like at arkadia, is that at quary all booths were bought by crafters/reselers and there are same things u can find at AH. what can do normal player with 2ped extractors? tt or nothing. auction fees kills any profit unless u got 50tt of something u sell :/

Not sure what the benefit of having a shop is . When I think about it: I pay auction fees or I pay tax on shops either way, as a comsumer, why do I care.. actually the auction at least gives me everything in one spot :wise:. Owning one sounds good but how is it a way to earn a income? Does anyone really shop at stores? If so, why? Just seems easier to use auction house; with the ability to place orders, I'd see a greater use also. Hmm... I think there are lots of questions around this topic... If Cyeren loots me a deed then, I am sure I can find a good use for it this is one project I would love to do :ninja:

shops got lower taxes than ah fees are, as far as i know, so u can sell cheaper having same profit.

Great idea would be to add small Booth deeds to loot pool, hunting/mining, same as calypso land deeds are. This would benefit those who actually are active here.

Having a physical shop/booth, in all the 'technical' garble, provides for emergent gameplay. That is, what does it add to the game, and what does it add to the game that's not specifically intended. What sort of behaivors -emerge- from having that feature.

And one such thing is just like walkin into a surpermaket and something called cross-merchandising. You know what you're after, but oooh lookit this nifty thing right next to what I'm wanting... spose I could pick that up too. It's for impulse buys. If you have your shop or booth in a popular spot, people can see what you have, see your prices, check the prices, and possibly buy, even if they weren't actively looking for that particular thing. Why? Because it could be a good deal, or just not at the front of their mind at the time.

But yea.. before I start to ramble, I hope you get the idea. :)

I normally roam the shops on calypso every day at least 2 times per day at all the malls, you can find that some people refill the shops on a once per week and once per day basis, and also you can find very good deals from time to time if you know which shops provide items that are regular as well as when the player who owns the shop gets a surplus of items that they don't normally sell so they sell at a discount. The whole point of the shops is for someone to sell at less than AH but more than just selling to your average merchants/crafters that are already buying items.
