I love to see new , original patterns coming out , and some these Paradigm patternsare really nice. But i was disappointed to find that you've made liberal use of Planet Calypso's awful new trend of"washed -out" fields. Or maybe MA did that, off their own bat?

Here's what I mean. Here, I'm trying to put the same texture at the same saturation (100%)on all 3 fields.

    washed out textures.JPG

As you can see, it only comes out looking like 100% on one of the fields. The other two fields are substantially lighter. Also, the field that includes the arms sort of splits in two so you get a further difference in density. The same effect occurs with paint as well as texture.

Now, this is all very well for an inexperienced newbie, I suppose (except an inexperienced newbie would get 3 different shades anyway, due to lack of skill :D). A sort of painting by numbers thing. Those fields should be treated different of course, and bingo! no need to think about it, they do come out differently, no matter what you do.

But hey! I can get the exact same effect by moving the saturation bar on my texturiser or colourator, if I like (and if all three fields are made equal) Better, I can choose which fields have low saturation. Or I can choose to vary them by putting different colours on top of the textures, instead. Or i can make 2 fields identical and let only the third stand out as different.

Best of all, I can create a wide range of interesting colours and effects by combining colours and textures...except a lot of those effects won't work at less than 100% saturation. So this painting by numbers thing horribly limits what I can do.

Worst of all, when doing custom jobs for people on caly , I'm forever having to explain to people that no, sorry, I can't get item A to match item B, because item A has one of those weird washed-out fields (or a weird darkened field). Often people have already bought the requisite paint, texture and item, on the reasonable assumption that I can. Once they grasp what I mean, they are never pleased! (surprise, surprise) and walk off grumbling, and calling MindArk uncomplimentary names

Now , the Caly devs have been having a feild day with washed-out fields just lately. They've actually changed a number of perfectly good items to incorprate washed out fields. Which means that some formerly exquisite items have suddenly turned to TT fodder, and nobody will ever have a plain black, plain red or plain blue pair of shoes again, they gotta have them patterned in different shades , like it or not.

I'm hoping Cyrene Devs will be less obtuse (very much seems that way so far) and change these things, or at very least, desist from doing it next time!

put one can of orange paint on the clothes it should probably remove the grey coloring. works with most clothes. you can tell if it will or not by tossing it in color tool and looking at the preview at no saturation

Nope. Doesn't work on Trix stilettos either, nor any of the recentl modified fields on Caly clothes (not to mention quite a few of the old ones) MA musta noticed we found a way round it :(

    You will be assimilated.

    jay :)

PS I was only previewing the texture on those shirts. So I couldn't try it with those. But i did try it with the one or two that i really textured. And I tried pre-applying the orange as well.

A few of the textures (the mineral ones) look more normal on those fields. So i'm overusing those, now! Its too expensive a mistake to make, to plaster a texture on a field, then find I can't get it the colour I want. You want black? you get mid-grey. You want red? you get pink. etc.
