Mining Rare Resources

Not much of a miner myself but figured today I'd try some mining on Cyrene. I'm finding the terrain quite inhibiting as it's very mountainous. For this reason I think it's time Cyrene implemented it's own "Rare Resources". Mining can be tedious on Cyrene and the full time miners should be rewarded for their efforts IMO.

I was kinda leaning more towards SOOTO's. Kinda worded things wrong. I mean Caly has it's beacons, used to have UL mining gear, angel scales (not sure if cyrene has those but if it does it don't have any BP's requiring them as of yet). I just think that a small bump for the miners would be nice.

Sure Kris!

First off.... "SOOTO" = "Something Out Of The Ordinary". Shows up in light pink chat along with your mining finds... ie:
"You have claimed a Resource"
"You have found something out of the ordinary!"

Calypso chooses to hand out it's robot beacons this way (And always has, though years ago you'd find a "strange signal", follow the signal on your mining finder, find a robot space ship, engage and destroy 2 robots, press a red button on the side of the ship, "Que global swirlies", get your robot residue and if lucky a beacon to go with it.) Simply having one dumped into your inventory after "something out of the ordinary" was found isn't as fun but it does the job. Also used to get Angel Scales which refined to light mail used in crafting armor, and a couple of other things. It was rare stuff.... rare to find some, and very much in demand because of it's rarity. That being said... the TT on the stuff was low and if you DID find one you would more than likely have 50-150 PED worth of MU to sell. Planet Calypso also dropped Unlimited mining amplifiers that way. I doubt you'd be able to throw any of those in the loot now-adays though. They're just too eco and MindArk kept the drop rate to almost nil up till this point.
On Arkadia the "Treasure Hunting" is just an increased (supposedly but I've never personally seen any) rate in SOOTO's. You pay a bit more, and are supposed to have a better chance at a treasure (usually a stupid pointless vase or picture believe it or not!).

So basically... Cyrene doesn't have beacons. Definately won't have any calypso amps in their grasp. I personally would like to see something high end (see one in "rare item" HoF once every 6 mths) and then a stackable with low TT used for crafting high demand items.

I've personally never had a SOOTO find before, but know of people who have. they are quite rare, but something that I've also never had is a find on orange crystals. Why they are this hard to come by, I do not know.
Will there be more spots to mine for the different crystals, or will there always just be that one little spot on cyrene that one can actually get orange crystal. It seems a little odd, how little of an area that actually is and how low the chances of finding some actually are

 

I need to bump an old thread here.

Currently I have done 3 mining runs and have yet to get a single hit on the above mentioned "Orange Crystal".

Any chance someone can point me in the right direction?

lol,, I did, that's how I came up with this old thread.. I just wasn't smart enough to search for "Map"

I use CS as I can but where I am at a lot of features like the maps wont load here. The governmental firewall blocks a lot of stuff.
