Hi and welcome. The reason why we change the captcha into Q/A is because we had spammers coming in on the forums. Not as bots (which is usually the case) but organized groups, who sign up and then come back to spam a product in either their profiles or as posts.

Using the Q/A would ensure, that people who register are serious about becoming a member and not another spammer.

I will, however change it again - even though I have to say it's the first time I hear a complain and we got a lot of new members here. But since last Xenforo update (Xenforo is the forum tool used here) there have been an even better 'block' possibility than before - but I guess we can never secure ourselves 100% when dealing with humans. We can try though - and we will ;)

Thank you for the heads-up

People considering coming to Cyrene, I just have to put this out there. I'm a new player on this planet who's really, really, really frustrated with Cyrene. It's a great planet once you have some skills under your belt, and the armor, mobs, weapons, and environment are really cool, but the fact of the matter is that Cyrene natives start out at a severe disadvantage. I sweated Dire Weeds for two hours straight and didn't get a single sweat because the hitbox is pretty close to that of a hair. So what about other mobs to sweat? Forget it, I looked. The next best thing that's anywhere near the starting area is a group of large, dangerous creatures that could destroy a new player in one hit. And they're a pretty fair distance away. Also, I keep hearing about a "Cyrene Community." This community must be a community of one because players are almost as rare as good sweating spots. I found a mentor and hitched the first ride out of there. I advise all NEW players (not old ones) to do the same. The pickings are slim, and your chances of succeeding on Cyrene from the ground up are slimmer. One thing I will say is that if you are an older player and have the skills, there are some truly awesome things to be found there. Unfortunately, new players don't have those skills, and so I would never, ever recommend this planet to a new-comer. I would consider altering my position if there was a tutorial system that got you set up with something that can shoot, but as-is it stinks.

    Hi,

I am not sure I Agee with you 100%

I do agree that the community is small, and I do agree that for a non depositing player it could be pretty tough to get established. But I would hope that's the case or else this game would never survive. The flip side to this is the lack of players presents opportunities that established planets do not.

As far as sweating goes, there is a TP that takes you to puny beach for the cost of 1 bottle of sweat (free). The puny pedes are sweatable - yes you will die but that's what sweating is about. I have not tried sweating the dire weeds, but I have shot a few of them - the hit boxes are the same afaik. I have hunted all sorts of mobs where people have complained re the hit boxes and it is not an issue. I'd like to add that in my short stay on this planet I have seen trade chat messages where people are looking to buy sweat. I don't see that in twins. There are a number of bps that require sweat - an opportunity.

It is also completely possible to explore this planet (on foot) without attracting hordes of mobs. While exploring you should pick up a number of daily missions for various professions. These missions reward skills and tokens...more opportunities.

The more I think about this the more I think you are completely wrong omega. You just need to try a little harder I think.

The hitbox issue makes Cyrene look quite bad at the moment. As long as this problem is not solved, the planet will suffer in my opinion.

I could concede that the hit box issue could be irritating / could even put you off hunting your favorite mob. But would you say the hit box issue makes Cyrene completely noob unfriendly?

Side note. I do think that the planets' mobs are far inferior to the others when it comes to animations etc.

    Yes.

Cyrene is still a small planet, and the current situation certainly affects new players the most. As nothing happens, some experienced players have also moved to other planets.

Hitbox issue + no development for more than 4 months + no event + empty communication ("we will inform you asap...", "we are currently investing the issue", no preview of future content...)...

We must have different ways of targeting mobs then.

I certainly agree that flying mobs are difficult - but not impossible.
I certainly agree that swamplurkers are at times a waste of ammo due to them dissapearing.

I do not agree that hit box issues are worth scaring off all potential new players.

Please give it a few days to kick in, non :) The current spammers became members before the update - which is the 'trick'. They become members first and then wait a little (often days or even months) before they start spamming.
