Help! i think ive lost my birdy

i recall hunting Old jacks down on the southern most island, i flew over there today wanting to visit my old friends and to my dismay they are missing!

have old jacks been changed to a boss mob? or removed? or whats the status on my little birdy friends.

Let me try and clear things up:

I have stated at some point in time when I was in game that the Old Jack dedicated spawn was not intended, I think that Agis might have been the first player who asked me about it at the Supply Depot.

Kris, can you explain publicly to all the players what happened to the Old Jack spawn, whether its disappeareance is intentional or not, and why it has disappeared?

Yes, however, it's not so much of a "disappearance" as a correction; Old Jack was not meant to have it's own spawn area, but rather to be a special creature, similar to other creatures on Cyrene. For example the Crystal Engorged Pede.

I hope this clears everything up and if there's any other sort of questions any player has just make a thread and if it can be answered we'll do our best.

Considering the fact that Old Jack is weaker than Old Flesh Ripper, I hardly believe it was the initial intention to have it as a special creature. This sounds more as an argument found afterwards to justify the disappearance of the Old Jack spawn.

But I suppose we have to accept this explanation. We will miss the Old Jacks.

I think there is more than creature level and/or toughness that makes them more special than others.

Specifically with Old Jack, he's part of a small story involving Tamangon Volcano (the bulk of this story hasn't been fully uncovered yet due to some items not being discovered) along with the Molten Red Golems and a renegade Space Pirate.

We do not arbitrarily make changes for the sake of change, if people like hunting mobs with Old Jack stats, who's not to say some can't come in the next VU?

I hope this clears the reasons for the removal of the Old Jack dedicated spawn more clearly =)
